Surface Terms of Use
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the Surface Map app for iPhone and iPad (the “App”) and this website, published by Riyad Anabtawi (“we”, “us”). By downloading or using the App you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. Licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App on Apple devices that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies; if it conflicts with these Terms, these Terms prevail to the extent permitted.
2. Measurements are estimates
Surface Map is a planning and inspection aid, not a certified measuring instrument. Results are estimates produced from your device's LiDAR scanner and camera. Their accuracy depends on the device, lighting, surface material, distance and how the scan is performed, and may contain errors.
Do not rely on the App as the sole basis for construction, installation, safety, legal, contractual or financial decisions. Verify critical measurements with appropriate calibrated tools (such as a laser level or straightedge) and, where needed, a qualified professional. Flatness scores, verdicts and tolerance references are general guidance and do not replace manufacturer specifications, building codes or professional advice.
3. Surface Map Pro and purchases
The App is free to download. Some features (“Pro features”), currently PDF/CSV/OBJ export, unlimited saved scans, the 3D relief view and custom tolerances, require Surface Map Pro, offered as:
- Pro Monthly and Pro Yearly, auto-renewable subscriptions. Pro Yearly may include a free trial for eligible new subscribers;
- Pro Lifetime, a one-time purchase that does not renew.
Prices are shown in the App before you buy and may vary by country. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period and price unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends. If you start a free trial, it converts to a paid subscription unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the trial ends, and any unused part of a trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple Account settings (Settings › your name › Subscriptions).
All purchases are processed by Apple under the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. We never receive your payment details. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. Restore previous purchases from the App's paywall or Settings. We may change which features are included in Pro or change prices for future billing periods; price changes for existing subscribers follow Apple's notice and consent rules.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to reverse engineer, decompile or modify the App except where the law allows it, use the App in any unlawful way, or use it to infringe anyone else's rights, including by scanning places you are not permitted to photograph.
5. Your content
Scans, photos, notes and exports you create belong to you. They are stored on your device and we do not access them. You are responsible for any content you share and for keeping backups.
6. Intellectual property
The App, its design, code, icon, name and this website are owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks.
7. Availability and changes
We may update, change or discontinue the App or any feature at any time. Some features require specific hardware; in particular, scanning requires a device with a LiDAR scanner.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the App is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be error-free or that its measurements will be accurate.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, materials or labour, or the cost of rework, arising from your use of or inability to use the App or reliance on its measurements. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the App and Surface Map Pro in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law that cannot be waived.
10. Apple
These Terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
11. Termination
Your licence ends automatically if you breach these Terms. You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. We will post the new version on this page with a new effective date. Continuing to use the App after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
