Surface Privacy Policy
In short: Surface Map does not collect, store on a server or share any of your data. Everything you scan stays on your device, and purchases are handled entirely by Apple.
This Privacy Policy explains how the Surface Map app for iPhone and iPad (the “App”) and this website handle information. The App is published by Riyad Anabtawi (“we”, “us”).
Information we collect
We do not collect any personal information through the App. In particular, the App:
- does not require or offer an account or sign-in;
- contains no analytics, advertising, tracking or crash-reporting software and no third-party SDKs;
- does not send data to us or anyone else; the only network activity is Apple's App Store when you view, buy or restore Surface Map Pro;
- does not track you across apps or websites, and does not use your device's advertising identifier.
Camera and LiDAR
The App asks for camera access so it can measure a surface. Camera and LiDAR data are used only while a scan is in progress and are processed entirely on your device. When you finish a scan, the App keeps the measurement results and one still photo of the surface so you can recognise the scan later. You can deny or revoke camera access at any time in Settings; you can still view sample scans without it.
Data stored on your device
Each scan you save is stored in the App's private storage on your device. It contains the measurement grid, calculated statistics, the name and notes you enter and the still photo. This information:
- never leaves your device unless you export it;
- is deleted when you delete the scan or uninstall the App;
- may be included in your device backups (for example iCloud Backup or a computer backup), which are handled by Apple under its own privacy policy.
Exporting and sharing
You can export a scan as a PDF, CSV or OBJ file. Exports are created on your device and shared only through the iOS share sheet to a destination you choose, such as Mail, Files or Messages. Once shared, the file is handled by that app or recipient under their own terms.
Purchases
Surface Map Pro is bought through Apple's App Store. Apple processes the payment; we never receive your name, payment details or Apple Account information. The App checks your purchase status using Apple's StoreKit on your device to decide whether Pro features are unlocked. Apple may share anonymous, aggregated sales reports with us, as it does with every developer.
This website
This website is a static site hosted on Hugging Face. It uses no cookies, analytics or tracking scripts and loads no third-party fonts or scripts. Like any web host, Hugging Face may process technical data such as your IP address to deliver and protect the site; see the Hugging Face Privacy Policy.
If you email us for support, we use your email address and message only to reply, and delete them when they are no longer needed.
Children
The App is not directed at children under 13 and collects no information from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Because we do not hold any personal data from the App, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export or delete on your behalf. You control all of your data on your device and can delete it at any time. If you have contacted us by email and want that correspondence deleted, let us know.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the App handles information, we will update this page and the effective date above before the change takes effect. Material changes will also be noted in the App's release notes.
